Misprint Carryall Bag by Erin Flett

We worked directly with Erin Flett to have these fabulous totes made for our shop — and there's nothing else quite like them! They aren't just project bags; they're works of art made in Gorham, Maine.

Erin's designs are her own: bold, original patterns built from multiple layers of color. In screen printing each color requires its own screen, and each layer has to dry completely (sometimes hours, sometimes the better part of a day) before the next one goes down. In Erin's studio, canvas panels are used to test screens between runs. The test panels are printed on again (and again!) as new colors or screens are used, creating multiple layers of colorful patterning.

Erin used these test panels — canvas surfaces that are unplanned, unexpected (and completely original!) to create the Misprint series.

There's plenty of room in the bag for a sweater in progress, backup yarn, and everything else you might want along for the ride. The handles are cut from a different printed canvas than the front, so even the straps are part of the composition. The back is left in natural canvas — a blank slate that's just right for embroidery, enamel pins, or whatever you want to make it your own.

We never know what beauties we'll receive when a package arrives from Erin's studio, and that's part of what makes them special. Each bag is different, so if you find one you love, act quickly! When the one pictured sells, it's gone.
