Fun with Cables
Cable stitches are both decorative and functional. They provide a sculptural look as well as adding warmth to knitwear. In this two hour workshop, instructor Connie Peng will cover how to read cable stitch charts, manage right and left leaning cables, making cables either in the round or flat, and performing cable crossovers both with and without a cable needle. Using cables to decorate knitwear can add lovely visual interest, and we will also introduce some fun ideas on how to do that in this class.
There is no homework for this class.The event will be hosted via Zoom. Learn about accessing our online events HERE.
This is LIVE class. It will not be recorded, so please be sure you are able to attend.
Handouts and login information is sent the day before the event, usually in the afternoon.

| Requirements: | Materials needed: Yarn in Worsted Weight (no acrylic or cotton), correct size needle for the yarn in 16 or 24 inch circular, (note: if you prefer magic loop method for smaller rounds - 32 or 40 inch circular, or DPN if that is your prefer work in round method), and a cable needle. |

| Instructor Bio: | Connie, aka yellowcosmo, designs a wide range of sweaters and accessories designs using colorwork, cables and lace. Coming from a studio art background, she often starts her designs with original motifs of her own. Her first love is designing with colorwork, but she also enjoys working with unique combination of cables and lace in her designs. Born in Taipei, she moved with her family to San Francisco when she was in 12. The experience of learning a new language, living in a new culture in a vibrant city built a foundation of curiosity in her. She studied art at University of California at Santa Cruz and later earned her MFA in painting at American University in Washington, DC. She moved to Lake Tahoe for snowboarding and found a job teaching art at a local college; meanwhile she started designing knit patterns. She takes her sense of adventure and her artistic sensibility into her knitwear design, making each design unique and fresh. Connie has published over 100 designs in the past 10 years and her designs appeared in Amirisu magazine in 2014 and 2015. |
