Beginning Brioche -Online Workshop



Become a fan of the Brioche family of stitches. This intriguing and unique knitting technique produces irresistible, soft, 3-dimensional and reversible fabric. In this online workshop, you will learn basic brioche in one and two colors. Your handout will include some other simple brioche stitches that you will be able to do on your own. 



The event will be hosted via Zoom. Learn about accessing our online events HERE.

This is LIVE class. It will not be recorded, so please be sure you are able to attend :)

The times for this class are Pacific Standard time.

  • Selvedge edges
  • Special tips on cast on and bind off
  • Best yarns to use
  • Reading charts and instructions

Prior to class, please review the tutorial on slip-stitch edge HERE

Homework:
1. Practice the long-tail cast-on.
2. With one circular needle and color A, CO 20 sts and leave them on the needle.
3. Repeat instructions in #2 with color B and another needle. We will use both cast-ons in class.

Suggestion:
In case you will need to start the swatch over, prepare another cast-on with the third needle (you can place sts on a holder, if you do not have an extra needle).

Requirements: Supplies: Two skeins (contrasting colors A and B) of worsted-weight, solid-colored yarn. Two circular needles in preferred size for worsted-weight yarn. (Third needle or stitch holder, if you are making extra cast on)

Taking an early retirement from a long career as a math professor gave Faina a chance to let her creativity and long-time passion for knitwear design become a second profession. Faina's interest in a wide assortment of knitting techniques and stitch patterns is evident in her designs and topics of her inspirational classes. Faina is a great communicator and energetic teacher who cares about her students and focuses on sharing her knowledge and excitement about the craft. She teaches at Vogue Knitting Live, Interweave Yarn Fest, and various venues such as guilds and yarn shops around the country and abroad. Faina's designs often appear in internationally recognized magazines such as Rowan, Vogue Knitting, Interweave Knits, Knit.Purl, Cast-On and in numerous books. Faina is best known for her elegant and well-fitted classic designs.
