Beginning Colorwork with KC Knitting Co.

Stranded colorwork is a knitting staple! In this class, learn the basics of this important technique that will open up a whole new world of possibilities for your craft.
We’ll cover:
• How to read colorwork charts
• Knitting both English/throwing AND Continental/picking at the same time
• Catching floats
• Color dominance
• Managing tension – no more disappearing stitches or bunchy, too-tight hats!

After group instruction, plenty of time will be given for practice and receiving 1:1 troubleshooting.

Recommended for knitters who are comfortable and self-directed in basic knitting skills.

Please purchase the pattern and complete the brim before class so you’ll be ready to start the colorwork.

Materials:
• DK weight yarn in 3 colors, ~99-169 yds in Main Color and ~42-56 yds in Contrast Color 1 (depending on size hat you are making)
• US6/4.00mm 24”/ 60cm circular needle or DPNs
• US5/3.75mm 16”/ 40cm circular needle or DPNs
• 14 stitch markers (13 of one type and 1 of another to indicate BOR)
