Shawl Design 101 - Create your very own custom shawl!
Design your own triangle shawl in this 3-hour class! Learn how to use simple math, an artistic eye, and your favorite stitch patterns to create a one-of-a-kind shawl. You’ll learn everything you need to know to design your first triangle shawl, including visual balance, texture, and more! You’ll learn (and laugh!) your way through class with best-selling author and knitwear designer, Marie Greene of Olive Knits. You’ll be ready to cast on by the end of class!
Supplies to Bring:
- Tape measure
- 30-50 grams of fingering weight yarn (in a light color)
- US Size 5 needles (for swatching)
Optional:
After designing their shawls in class, students can choose yarn and needles to begin their project.

| Instructor Bio: | Marie Greene is the founder of Olive Knits, an independent design brand emphasizing classic, seamless designs. She learned to knit as a young girl with patterns from the 1940s, thanks to her Grandma Margery; it was love at first sight. Knitting has been her constant companion ever since. Marie's work has been featured by Laine Magazine and The Fibre Company and includes her viral annual 4 Day KAL. She teaches her engaging techniques at workshops, festivals, and yarn shops around the world. Marie is the author of Seamless Knit Sweaters in 2 Weeks and Knit Shawls & Wraps in 1 Week. She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband. |
