Instructor: Cynthia Sloan
Instructor Bio: Cynthia grew up around military bases in Virginia and Tennessee. Her father was in the navy and her mother taught elementary school and also made most of the clothing for herself, Cynthia and her sister. Cynthia's mother also knitted beautiful sweaters and embroidered linens and decorations for their clothing. She passed her love of needlework on to Cynthia and her sister. Cynthia's mother taught her to embroider when she was in preschool and taught her to knit a few years later. Cynthia's more formal needlework education began in high school and she has taken many classes over the years to hone her skills. She learned to crochet from her grandmother and her best friend taught her how to tat. She also learned many industry shortcuts and tips during her time sewing for a small designer in Michigan. In addition to garment sewing for herself, her children and her beautiful granddaughter, she loves to make art quilts , dolls, miniatures and she's recently taken up heirloom french hand sewing.
