Are you someone who lights up when talking about yarn, color, and creativity? Do you love helping people feel inspired and supported in their fiber arts journey? Makers’ Mercantile is looking for a warm, welcoming, and detail-oriented person to join our team as a part-time retail sales associate beginning in spring 2025.

This in-person role is based in our Kent, Washington storefront. Weekend availability is a must.

What You’ll Do

• Greet and assist customers in-store and over the phone
• Provide knowledgeable support for yarn, tools, and fiber art techniques
• Process in-person, phone, and online orders
• Ship online purchases with care and accuracy
• Receive and organize product shipments
• Help maintain a clean, cheerful, and inspiring shop environment

Who You Are

• You’ve worked in retail and are comfortable using point-of-sale systems and managing inventory
• You are proficient in both knitting and crochet, and enjoy helping others with pattern selection, technique questions, and yarn pairing
• You’re a proactive multitasker who stays calm and friendly—even when the shop gets busy
• You’re tech-savvy enough to navigate platforms like Ravelry, Google, and email efficiently
• You’re able to stand throughout your shift, climb stairs/ladders, and occasionally lift up to 30 lbs
• You’re authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship

Bonus Points For…

• Knowledge of other fiber arts like spinning, weaving, dyeing, or felting
• Experience teaching knitting or crochet in a classroom or workshop setting
• Comfortable communicating in a second language
• A great eye for color, design, and yarn combinations
