Thrum knitting is a time-honored tradition of knitting unspun wool inside knits to create the feel of the natural insulation of sheepskin. The ends of the fleece are like soft pillows, making the hands and feet cuddly warm.
We use US worsted weight wool, hand dye it and add Blue Face Leicester fleece from our local sheep farmers at Holler Farm. The pattern instructs how to take wisps of the fleece and knit it into the mittens and booties.
Included is the ribbon for the finishing touch. It is all packaged in a decorative box—ready to give your natural fiber creation to a lucky baby!
